I’ve always loved the beginning of the year. It’s certainly refreshing to get a ‘new start’ of sorts. One thing I have to admit I am not a fan of is all the “new year resolutioners” at the gym… all at once….and not wearing the appropriate fitness attire.
This was the inspiration behind our latest glamour guide: what to wear to the gym. And in addition to our usual glam squad {Laura, Michelle and Avery}, we decided to take it outside the boutique and into an actual fitness studio, Work It Personal Training.
Candice and Bert were not only excellent models, but they also got a pretty good workout during our shoot {which of course, Paige’s photos capture quite nicely}. And thank you to Texas Running Company for the stylish outfits!

And so that you are not one of the rookies at the gym, here are some style and beauty tips to consider:
- Waterproof mascara and concealer underneath the eyes will make you look instantly awake.
- Workout clothes doesn’t have to be skin tight. Do however opt for fitted clothes to prevent tangling so you can focus on your moves.
- Consider investing in a nice pair of compression pants for winter exercise. They will help keep you warm when jogging outdoors, wick moisture away and help prevent chaffing. Also, some studies suggest that wearing compression pants or shorts during a longer run can prevent soreness.
- Use concealer on any blemishes, and if you must use foundation, skip the powder and try a mineral tinted moisturizer.
- Choose workout clothes in colors and styles that motivate you. It will make working out less of a chore.
- A tinted chap-stick will add just the right amount of color and add moisture.
- Looking for something to get you back into your exercise habit? Try going shopping! Getting new workout clothing and gear could be the encouragement you need to get back into the gym. Find a couple of new outfits that fit well, are comfortable, flattering and fashionable.
